Link City
I find it useful as a general rule of thumb to be wary of any one solution that claims to solve too much. I find it best if a proposal has an intrinsic call for further discussion. Movement should be encouraged.
I read once that Philosophy is the enemy of life as it seeks to petrify the music of the world into concepts.
This photo is of a proposal by a Spanish architecture collective on how to solve the problems of urban sprawl. It was captivating in its logic and beautiful in its simplicity but I sudder to think that it could ever be practically entertained as a workable option.
I'm thinking here of past experiences of planned cities and other analogous attempts to impose or direct a single idea on any group of people. We need big ideas for the big problems that we face but its difficult to balance this need with the sensitivities that individual cases deserve.
