PhD defence

Today, I attended PhD defence of Lilla Grossman -- Hungarian girl married to my Pakistani friend saqib. It is a tradition at Magdeburg University that after successful PhD defence, the candidate gets a ride on a wooden horse dragged by fellow students (some of them beating drums). A small ceremony takes place at Otto von Guericke monument near the town hall in the city center where a public announcement is made about the successful completion of doctorate and some drinks are served.
