Brough of Birsay
I'd hoped the wind would be kind today and it was. In fact, it stayed away and sent its sister Zephyr instead.
I got dropped off at the causeway to the brough. Wellies or not, it was still too deep under water, but after only about fifteen minutes I was able to stride confidentally across. The only person there. The fulmars are back on the cliffs and a raven was kronking overhead. At one point I thought its mate had joined it, but it was a hunting hen harrier.
Later, on the grassland behind the cliffs of Marwick Head, there were small groups of snow bunting and redpoll.
I walked down to The Choin and the bus collected me there.
More shots of the walk here.
