If at first you don't succeed...
.....add some more sugar and perhaps they won't notice the difference.
At the request (well, more like demand) of Friend J and with the gentle urgings of MCG ladies, I was semi up for the challenge of attempting to make Baklava.
Let me preface by saying that I do not have gentle hands nor a delicate touch. Years of "finger exercises" brought on by a persistent and beloved violin teacher - RIP, Jesse A. Ceci - has given me a bit of a heavy hand when it comes to dexterity.
I am also impatient when under a time constraint and am prone to just hastily get through a project rather than breathe through it and finish well. This does not a pretty baklava make.
Despite its plain exterior, the baklava's sweet and nutty crunch was able to shine through and ended up being enjoyed last night. Who says only pretty girls get all the attention at a party? ;o)
