red translucent

the flowers on my christmas cactus are beginning to open...yay! i'm not sure why they're called "christmas" when time-wise they bloom prior to the holiday.

is there a way to prolong the blooming? i know my mother was always fortunate to have hers bloom well into the new year. how? i don't know. she didn't know, even though i have asked over and over what the secret was or what she did to the plant. of course, i've said before hers always bloomed every year whereas this is the first time mine have bloomed in many years. so i'm trying not to get overly excited.... i want to enjoy.... but i was hooting when i saw this blossom today beginning to open....

somehow it gave me hope for myself as well.... maybe there will be some new beginnings for me or loved ones.... or maybe it's just a simple moment in a simple day.... which ever -
