USS GRAVELY DDG 107
After five years of building and testing, the guided missile destroyer DDG 107 built at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding's Pascagoula yard was commissioned Saturday in a ceremony in Wilmington, N.C.
The Gravely is equipped to fight air, surface and subsurface battles simultaneously and has a mix of offensive and defensive weapons, including the ability to support two helicopters. The ship is named for the late Vice Admiral Samuel Lee Gravely Jr.
The ceremony was attended by 7000 people. It was a beautiful day to be proud of our country. I like the Junior NROTC cadets getting ready.
