Pig
Yes, a pig. Ended up for some afternoon tea and cake at the lovely Loopy Lorna's at the Church Hill Theatre where the teapots come with unique custom-knitted cosies. Last time we got a bee, today we got a pig. Can't complain.
Girls had been taken to see the kids' film at Filmhouse beforehand by their unofficial godmother ('Godless Mother' is the title we've bestowed on her) whilst us grown-ups got to see the delights of Currys in a search for a new cooker. You ever been to Currys on a weekend. it's fab, they've got everything - fridges, freezers, cookers, teles, zzzzzzzzzz.
Inspired by Charles Mingus whilst cooking and then my youngest insisted on The Jungle Book soundtrack whilst we ate, the four us plus the Godless Mother, listening to Bare Necessities and King Of The Swingers with our roast dinner.
Managed to actually pick up a book and read for once in the evening. Rat Girl by Kristin Hersh. In 1985 I was just finishing my O Levels at school in Hull, Kristin was gaining some recognition with Throwing Muses, being diagnosed as being bipolar and then finding out she was preganant. Not sure a memoir of my year woud be quite as rivetting as Kristin's. So far, so very good.
