Toots in Solitude

River Tyne once again

A certain blipper mentioned there were a pair of kingfishers along the Tyne somewhere. This blipper is over in Ireland just now, and so, this morning I scoured the banks for a colourful, heaven-sent, glimpse of at least one of this pair.
Serves my competitive self right that none materialised.
I did hear a woodpecker across the river. Then I saw him briefly as he tootled around to the back of the tree, only to be lost forever from my sight.
