The intriguing device brought along to the Antiquary this afternoon by Rachael, a member of the Edinburgh Photographers group on Flickr. Besides the moving-bellows-focussing there were two levers, a viewfinder which swivelled to allow portrait or landscape composition and a shutter lever stuck on almost as an afterthought. When digital cameras first appeared I always wondered if one day it would be possible to buy replacement backplates for cameras to allow a film SLR to be used digitally. Ten years later I still wonder the same thing; it would allow all the fun of experimental weird-equipment photography without the long wait to get things processed.

A very enjoyable afternoon but also very trying: once again my camera was the only non-DSLR on the table (excluding film cameras). As a result March 2008 is now at the later end of the proposed upgrade date range and the D80 is slightly edging out the 400D in current-favourite position...
