Love you Gran
This book, is more than just a book.
On the 1st of August this year, my Gran, Isobel Goodfellow, died at the not so old age of 73, after a short illness. A loss that has been particularly hard on the family. After her death, things had to be sorted, and stuff had to be examined.
A look through the attic a few days later, and we stumbled across an envelope. Inside the envelope was letters for my Granddad (her husband of 54 years) and her 3 daughters, whom she loved dearly. The letters clearly written to be found once she had passed away. They were beautiful. Love letters, just how my Gran was, a loving and forgiving woman who never judged anyone for anything.
Scroll forward a few months to today, November 23rd. After more digging through the attic, my auntie found a book, and after a quick examination discovered the book was written for me. A memory book. A family tree. A book of life and family. We always did share an interest in family history. (She has traced our family tree back to the 12th century!).
On one page it details my Grandparents wedding. 4th February 1956. The first dance was cleverly "For he's a jolly good fellow". This song was always special to her, I just thought it was due to the family name, Goodfellow, turns out it's so much more.
Obviously I can't tell you everything, but all you need to know is this book is really special to me, and I shall treasure it forever.
Love you Gran. See you on the other side. xx
