Common Ink Cap (Coprinus atramentarius)
A very common fungus found from spring to late autumn. It is edible BUT if taken with alcohol causes palpitations and severe nausea.
'In the old days' the 'ink' from the decaying cap was boiled in a small amount of water and cloves which produced a very high quality drawing ink.
In day or two the colour of these will change dramatically and the cap will blacken at the edges (the ink).
