Pike River Mine

Prime Minister John Key announced this evening that flags will fly at half-mast around New Zealand tomorrow, out of respect for the 29 Pike River miners who are now presumed dead. A second explosion at the mine this afternoon - much larger than the first - has dashed all hope of a rescue attempt. Police are saying that there is no chance that any of the miners would have survived it.

I heard the news on the radio on the way home tonight, and decided to find a street number. On the second attempt, I came upon 29 Mandeville Street - a small shop which just happens to sell handmade Italian floor and wall tiles. This sweet "29" was pinned to the door frame.
