The Metal Grouse
This strange statue was erected last weekend in the middle of one the busiest roundabouts in Scotland. The Broxden roundabout site at the south end of the entrance into Perth, with roads leading off to the A9 to Inverness and the M90 to Edinburgh, which then splits off to the Friarton bridge leading to Dundee. Not too happy with the photograph as due to it being in the middle of the roundabout couldn't get a better angle.
The Famous Grouse is a brand of whisky which is owned by Diagio, who have offices in Perth and they have paid for this to be erected. The whisky was formerly owned by Matthew Gloag, who had a long history with Perth. It sits on a plinth, surrounded by trees. In my mind it is not high enough as it can't be seen from all directions due to the size of the trees. But they may not be finished so we'll see what happens.
It's pretty cold today, grey skies with a north wind blowing. Lots of layers on now. Heavy snow fell further north yesterday but luckily we have only had a flicker.
