Scandolous!!

Here is a photo of the "Tafel" ( the Table). On Thursday mornings L and I go to this building, where together with other volounteers, we sort food for the less fortunate members of our Town.
I go with another man, in shot, and we visit 7 Supermarkets and one Baker in our area. That pile of bread and rolls is what we collected this morning, together with boxes of vegetables, fruit and other foodstuffs.
The scandalous fact is that it would normally be thrown away. 40% of perishable foods are disposed of, not sold. Part of the contract for Bakers in many Supermarkets is that until 30 minutes before closing time they must have their shelves at least 75% full. Result, lots of bread and rolls go in the bin the next day........... Result is higher prices, of course.
