Thanksgiving
As I ran out to get more celery this morning, I passed these homeless people on First Avenue picking through someone's apartment leftovers. I heard one guy say that there wasn't much to choose from, just mostly papers. The homeless in NYC are incredibly resourceful and proprietary, like if you happen upon a bag of paperbacks in the street and decide to see if one is worthy of a read, they'll come up to you and act as though they have more of right to it because it's considered garbage. I tend to disagree, especially since I am just weeks away from eviction at any given time. Little separates me and them. On this day ask yourself for what you are most thankful. For me, that answer is clearly not family, having been disowned and disinherited because of my "alternative" lifestyle. The real reason is unbridled greed. I am most thankful for my parter of 23 years; without him I would have swiftly exited this world already.
