macaroooooooon

welll what an odd day. set my alarm for 9 then fell asleep again til ten.. took myself off christmas shopping and bought nothing. so decided to challenge myself and have a first attempt at macaroon making. I always think on tv aaaah it wan't be as hard as they all say it was... but mine look pretty far off what they do in the picture! damit australian woman's weekly! BUT they are recogniseable as macaroons i'd say. To save face I am going to blame the following: 1. i did not have pink food colouring as the recipe suggests, i had red. 2. i didn't have a piping utensil to make them nice and round, tried with some greaseproof paper but was too sticky=much mess and resorting back to the good old finger. 3. the ganache centre tastes somewhat of chorizo having used the same pan for tea last night and even after an extra scrub there was apppaarently some flavour left. 4. I don't know whether my oven is fan assisted... it souunds like a fan but theres nothing that says you can not use the fan, so i put it somewhere in between the 2 temperatures. and 5... erm... my baking trays were precariously balanced on each other as 3 will not fit in the oven together. dangit. and thus the excusing is done. one thing that is of course waaay better than in the book is the edible glitter!!!

going to go swimming tonight methinks. off to dig out my age 12 swimming costume..... oooh it'll be coooooooooooold.
