Merry Christmas Edinburgh

I had my 'Christmas Shopping Day' from work today but since I felt a bit rough yesterday, decided not to get up early as planned but have a bit of a lie in.

After my lazy morning I went into town because I wanted a nosey around the Christmas market that opened today. It was lovely during the day because it was nice and quiet, but it wasn't as exciting seeing everything lit up in the daylight. There was HUGE temptation from all the foodie stalls that were available. The one that particularly killed me was the crepe stand. I saw someone walk away with a banana and Nutella crepe and nearly lynched her for it...

Made my way up to the Mound to see the lights being switched on and was very lucky to get a spot right up at the stage where Boogie and Dingo were announcing the entertainment. The band marched up the Mound and got themselves all connected up to the apparatus seen above and were hoisted about 200 metres in the air, above the Christmas tree and continued to play. It was incredible. There was also an acrobat doing circus type things. It was definitely a watch through your fingers kind of act but very very cool. The lights were then switched on in the tree (absolutely beautiful) and there was about five minutes of fireworks.

Only thing that stopped the evening being perfect was that A got caught up at work and by the time he came into town it would have been impossible to meet up because it was so busy. So we both saw it but quite a distance apart.

After the tree ceremony we mosied around the German Christmas Village again before I came home to some healthy food. AKA not crepes. :(
