Novae ???

I think i just saw a Novae with the naked eye ..(focusted camera picture)
Very early this morning my son waked me up in a bit of a panic because he taught he saw a meteor coming ..
Thats how bright this star was..
Changing a bit of color..he was scared...
So i was curious as well ..
I took sum pictures and filmed it and try 2 find it on the internet ..
And i think its a Novae...
Im not 100% sure ..can someone please help me?
And tell my son (and me) what this is ???
