Admiring the fountain.

Another day with a working lunch, so I didn't get any time for a stroll although the weather was gorgeous. I had an errand to do after work that took me through this square again and I noticed that this little boy was captivated by the fountain. It is quite impressive and reminds me of a stack of very ornate bowls. This square was the site of a Soviet park commemorating the 26 Commissars.... I don't understand enough of the Soviet/immediately pre-Soviet period of history to explain their significance, suffice to say that Soviet buildings and memorials in Baku are gradually being replaced with new squares, fountains and flowerbeds. It's changed so much in the nearly two years that we've been here!
