My Dad's Jack Russell, Xam, was put down today for reasons I won't go into. His time had come though. He outlived Dad by just over a year while being treated like a king by Gabrielle, Rob, Angus, Kate and Grace. I'm sorry that they had to go through the sadness of putting him down rather than me.

It is the tragedy of owning pets that we more often than not will be the ones who decide to end their life.

For those who are wondering about his name: Dad's name was Max.
