River Isère: Parc de l'Île d'Amour

This morning I heard a call from the lady of the house (apartment) from her kitchen to summon the rest of us, as I misheard, to go for a walk to "faire l'amour" in the park. Apparently, what she really said was that we were going out for a walk in the "parc .... d'Amour".

But a very nice walk it turned out to be in a city park by the banks of the river Isère. The river, as shown here in Grenoble, is quite rapid, but already widening, having originated from a glacier in the Savoie Alps. It gives its name to the département to which Grenoble belongs, and, of course, to the Val d'Isère ski area.

The park contains

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ some fine old trees,

as well as some excellent

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ views of the snow-clad Alps

towering above.
