vigil naming 500 women dead by violence
On Dec. 6, 1989, a gunman killed 14 women in a Montreal Polytechnical Institute.
Before opening fire on the classroom of female engineering students he screamed, "I hate feminists."
Every year on this day all over Canada, people gather to hold a vigil in honour of those 14 women, and all women who have been victims of gender violence.
I happened to come across such a gathering today.
The organizers told me they had written the names of the 500 women killed in the province of Ontario since 1989.
This image which tells that story is my blip for today.
