Christmas Cake - stage 1

First you take your fruit and soak it in some stewed apple, some Lady Grey tea and a fair amount of sloe gin.

I am a little late to this, normally by now stage 1 and 2 would be complete, but this year I am destined to be constantly playing catch-up.
