Church Steeple

I passed by this church on my way to explore another cove on the north side of Cape Cod and within walking distance of where I was staying in Yarmouth Port.

It being Thanksgiving, the First Congregational Church with its splendid tower seemed an appropriate subject.

During this walk, I almost felt as if I was back in England. The oak trees still had a few yellowing leaves clinging to the branches; the hedgerows had berries and rosehips. It was gloomy again, making it seem even more like the England in November I knew for the bulk of my life. Except back in England we did not have the prospect of Thanksgiving.

I got back to the house just before 3:00 pm and a veritable feast had been prepared. My wife discovered a peach glaze on the Food Channel a couple of years ago and, ever since, turkey has tasted the best I have ever known.
