Crown No1
I started working on my Crown No1 stove tonight. It needs a complete restoration, which on the face of it doesn't look too hard.
Most of it is just steel plates screwed together. Sure, the screws are all rusted into the body. Nothing a bit of drilling out and re-tapping won't fix. After all, most of the screws probably haven't been undone in 50 years!
The front part will have to be re-enameled. Again, no biggie, I just need to find someone to do it. Getting the logo reproduced might be a little bit difficult. We'll see.
The top poses a challenge because it is cast iron. Some of the plates are missing. My aim is to try and reproduce it as close as possible to the original, using as many of the original parts as possible.
What I did tonight took 5 minutes. I got to eyeball the layout which will give me hours of thinking and planning. I could make a hobby of collecting these very rare stoves. I already have two which is two more than most people.
