Carnaby Christmas lights
On a space theme. You can't see him, because he's a light blob, but there's a Santa astronaut below the large Earth.
About six inches of snow fell overnight in south-east London so no trains were running. I got on a bus to Brixton, which painfully crawled its way to the tube station. I would have walked, but there was a danger of broken bones - the pavements were treacherous. However, I had a good book so didn't mind when the 20-minute journey took an hour and ten minutes. Most people made it into work since the tubes were running fine. The folk from Kent and Sussex worked from home. We were due to have our Christmas lunch today, but we've postponed it so the Kent and Sussex people can join us when the trains are up and running again. We did, however, go to the pub to commiserate not having our Christmas lunch.
In the evening, I met up with Jane for tea and cake at Yumchaa. We caught up on several months' worth of gossip. We then walked to Oxford Circus via Carnaby Street and were drawn in by the bright lights of Liberty's. We could just about afford a bar of chocolate (£6!), but would you buy a pair of woollen gloves for £95? Crikey. With our Doc Martin's and clumpy snowboots, we investigated the pretty Manolo Blahnik shoes. We scuttled out before we caused any embarrassment.
The home journey was pretty fast - hooray!
