Some treats..
...well Christmas is coming! The floss halva is Turkish and is basically spun sugar. Very moreish! The middle one is a biscuit from Belarus (although it's called Moscow Bread) it's a little like toast with raisins. Interesting. The last one - a stollen - I was quite excited to find... it means that if my attempt to make a stollen doesn't work, I have a back up!
We are staying in Baku this year for Christmas, haven't managed to persuade family to visit... well telling them that we are unlikely to have snow (it's around 15degrees at the moment) and that Azerbaijan, being an Islamic country doesn't really do Christmas, is not really selling it as a Christmas destination. So inside we'll spend Christmas and New Year at home with the cats and friends who are also away from their families - I'm planning to recreate as traditional a Christmas as possible - foodwise anyway. It'll be our first Christmas at home - we mostly travel to my famly, apart from the occasion we went tiger watching in Central India - that was different!
