Tradition

Our small town tradition...watching Santa light the town Christmas tree.

Every year hundreds of people file downtown the first Friday in December. Music, food, hot chocolate, visiting with friends, mittens, long johns, and of course Santa. I don't know how many years it has been happening, but I do know it has been going on since I moved her 15 years ago. Santa is lifted into the air by the ladder of a fire truck to the top of the tree...the magical dust is sprinkled and the lights go on.

And now we have the pleasure of taking our children...the excitement in their voices and the glisten in their eyes. It makes it all worth it in the first few minutes we are there. Though this year, I wonder who really had the most fun.... :)

And to Abstract Eyes and Pranaphoto...thanks for the fantastic morning. Something long overdue...let's make it happen again before next spring when we visit the secret frog tree :)
