In line to see Santa outside Macy's
Well the kids loved seeing Santa. The line was long, Santas grotto was late opeing as Santa was late. When I asked what time they were opening the woman looked flustered and gave an incomprehensible answer. On pointing out they were missing the fatman himself I was told he was on his way. I asked if he way over Canada on his way or actually somewhere in the mall on his way. One of them had apparently seen him in the mall.
When he did arrive he was a fat old guy with a big white beard, so he looked the part. Once he started seeing the kids he did however not smile and his eyelids kept drooping. When they showed us the available photo packages before we went in I asked if it was possible for them to make him smile. Apparently he couldnt because his beard prevented him from doing so. She then said it was pretty impressive for a glued on beard, only to be told that his beard was in fact real, hmmm so his own beard stopped him from smiling?
I didnt get too close myself but looking at him you could easily imagine him smelling of cigarettes/booze/urine.
Anyways the reason I started that above which I thought would be a sentence or two was to say how it was amazing how pleased my 3 1/2 year old was with the whole experience, long wait, miserable eyes drooping Santa but she didnt notice... to her it was wonderful. Oh how I would love to be that easily pleased.
