Our five mile world

Freezing fog creeps up the valley floor

As daylight was drawing to a close, I noticed the freezing fog rolling in from the south, and so grabbed the camera and headed out for a blip opportunity.

As they say, what you see is what you get..............no editing, just as I saw it!

What I have noticde about this deep snow covering, this past week, is the silence.
It is so peaceful and reassuring.

The only times we are aware of this silence is early on Christmas Day morning, or when there was a major landslide and the A9 was blocked off for weeks.

Normally the traffic on the A9 ( 3/4 mile away as the crow flies) can always be heard as a low drone in the distance.

Awaiting collection before the floods come, are these bales of barley straw.

Two years ago farmers were paying £4.00 per bale of good quality barley straw,
suitable for both bedding and fodder. We have heard that due to this early onset of severe weather, the demand has increased and the price has rocketed to £18 per bale.

Had a lovely chat on the phone with Louisa Hazel who will be two years old tomorrow!!!

Bless her.
