Let it thaw
Today's been a bit of a weather-related nightmare as many in Scotland will agree.
I had planned a day off to go into the town and do some Crimbo shopping.
But when we were about to head off, the light snow got a bit heavier and we opted to go local instead. A couple of hours later, we got word the schools were closing.
So all plans went out the window and we went to pick up the boy.
By the time we retrieved him the roads were pretty bad and getting home was a struggle. We would probably have made it, had it not been for some other cars blocking the way. But we got snowed in and had to abandon the car some distance from home and walk.
It was like a scene out of some post-apocalypse movie, or perhaps the excellent 'Walking Dead', as we tramped up the empty roads in eerie silence.
Then the rest of the afternoon was all about clearing all that snow from the path, drive and street, as a team with the neighbours. We should enter for the national shoveling championships next year.
So much for a day's holiday. However I'm considering myself lucky looking at the carnage on the motorways - I would have been stuck in that trying to get home from work.
This shot was done (badly) on the long walk home with a cool iPhone app called '360 Panorama' by Occipital. It auto-stitches captures into a panorama. It's fab. I will be playing with this a bit more.
