Erawan Shrine

Even as I was across a busy crossroads in car polluted Bangkok, I could smell the incense burning at the Erawan Shrine!

The story goes that when the hotel in the background was being built many builders died in accidents, and so a Buddhist shrine was built on the corner and...no more accidents.

Everyday the shrine is packed with people offering gifts and lighting candles and incense. And taking photos.
