Dark Lady

Of all the red poppies this one stands out because of the dark colour that is almost black in the shadows. Those are white rose petals on the ground.

We have had some much needed rain, but not enough. The soil is still dry from about 7 cms down. The rain came with a gusty wind that blew the sparrow's nest out of the cabbage tree (see yesterday). The down-lined nest was empty and there was no sign of the chicks. I hope they were developed enough to survive. It's certainly quiet under the tree today.
