Belted Kingfisher

I can't claim any great expertise in taking this shot; I was freezing my butt off, by one the ponds I swing by, on the way back from the school run, wondering if I was stark staring mad trying to capture shots of birds that clearly had no interest in becoming famous. I was about to give up and get on my way, when I heard a great chattering and saw this chap zoom in, sit briefly on this nest box, and take off again, still chattering. Had he hung around a little longer I might have got the focus right, but never mind! I have a kingfisher in my collection.

I also have a sore throat and a headache, so no horses today. A nice beef casserole and more of Lizbeth Salander, is the order of the day I think.
