Spitfire at 4 'o' clock!

Well, it was more like 3.20 to be honest but who's clock watching. This is actually a roundabout in the lovely sun kissed resort of Thornaby-on-Tees close to where I live.

Thornaby Aerodrome used to be very close to this spot and this is in commemoration of 608 and 401 Spitfire squadrons that flew from there during and after the war. Every time I see it I get a real sense of the beauty and magnificence of these flying machines ... and fond memories of my old Commando comics when I was a kid. It used to be so simple then!
