Perfect Paddling
After yesterday's lie in, I got up at 4:45AM and, with the kayak on the car roof, drove to Cass Bay.
I was in the water at 5:25AM. The sea was like glass and I had the entire Lyttelton Harbour to myself.
I paddled my favourite circuit across the harbour and around Quail Island.
This shot was taken from the kayak, within the wreck of "The Darra" (launched in 1865). The wooden planks have long since rotted, leaving an iron frame of rusting ribs.
I was home for toast and coffee at 7:15, then a shower, change, quick piano practice and off to work and in the office at 8:30. What a way to start the day!
