Water...
...at last!
It seemed like an eternity but in fact it was only just over a day that we were without water due to a frozen supply pipe. This afternoon with a gurgle, a chug and a splutter the full pressure of the water returned as the ice gave up it's grip. We didn't even have to apply the proffered advice from a plumber to 'apply your hair drier to your stopcock' ('Titter ye not' blippers as the great Frankie Howerd would say).
Makes me realise just how soft we have become in the Western world...take water away from us for only a day and we begin to worry how we will cope. Millions of people have to walk miles a day to get a bucket full of dirty water just to survive and yet we are used to clean water being summoned at the turn of a tap in multiple rooms in our houses (I've just counted...we have five rooms in our house with running water!).
