Moon

Oh, the excitement. I made it all the way to the chemist today - cough syrup oh yeh!

Thought I'd take out the rather impressive looking 70-200mm lens and see what I happened upon, although I mostly just ended up dodging falling snow (and guttering from our building that seemed all too happy to come off with it - not so good).

As it happens I was quite pleased with some of the photos, there was a sizeable flock of birds doing swooping manoeuvers and some lovely tones in the sky as the light was fading. In the end I plumped for this shot of the moon in the sky (with some branches and building furniture creeping in at the side), which I snapped one handed - the other hand was busy holding a coffee and a paper. I was impressed on two counts, the initial one being that it's quite a front heavy setup with that lens on my low-end 400D. The second I only realised after downloading to my computer and seeing the detail that the lens had picked out on the surface of the moon on my monitor - astounding, plus I've never tried to shoot the moon before. I have never used a telephoto lens of this quality before, and it is plain to see what the money buys you.
