Warming up before the big match

A dull and murky day in West Wales but as I walked through Lota Park, I spotted these brightly clad junior soccer players preparing to meet their opponents (in blue.) Coach was putting them through their paces prior to all getting into a huddle to talk tactics. I didn't stay to watch but it must have been something of a local derby because there were at least a dozen people on the sidelines!

I always like the shapes that ivy-covered trees make in winter - it's as if they are wearing fingerless gloves.

Historical note: The land for Lota Park was given to the town of Fishguard in 1923 by a local solicitor on condition it was named after his birthplace. Lota had been the port from whence his parents ran their sea-trading business. It was a major coal-exporting town in the 19th century but nowadays it is mired in poverty and was severely damaged by the earthquake earlier this year.
