Bubblegum
We put up the tree and did some decorating today. Tradition in our house is to have a glass or two of red and of one of our favourite CDs, The Best Of Chet Baker Sings on the stereo whilst we do this, but a little early at two in the afternoon to crack open the Shiraz we felt, so we made do with mugs of tea and the girls got very excited with the various tinsels, lights and baubles coming out for their annual appearance. Pride of place this year on the top is not an angel like usual, but a soft toy in the form of a pink mouse called Bubblegum - not an obvious choice perhaps, but not complaining, makes a change.
Been listening to plenty of the wonderful Forest Swords today, courtesy of some mail-order stuff that finally arrived post-freeze. Now, part of the joy in writing wee bits and bobs about music over the years has been the (almost) necessity of making up ridiculously-monikered new genres. So, for a duo that combine dub rhythms with Morricone-esque guitars the only vaguely suitable one I've come up with is Spaghetti Dub. It'll never catch on, but then again, it just might...check their track Hjurt for a taster.
