Winterwood Tale
Christmas tree up. And a tree over the back wall in the untended communal garden removed, in a daring guerilla style operation. I could see that in a few years it would be towering over my back garden blocking out the summer daylight, so I didn't hang about searching to get agreement with anyone. I'd learned the lesson of old Miss Reid's tree that I ignored when she passed on in '88. Her brother asked if I wanted it removed (it was a bloody Norway Spruce - an ex-Christmas tree - about 6 foot high then) and I said no, it's not a problem. Another 20 years later when it was higher than the house and fannybaws next door rather liked it (!), I realised that sometimes direct action is the only way.
So, deed done. If anyone asks, it wasn't me.
