Under the Umbrella
Two main events today: We spent time with Xu Han, the Mount Holyoke College student from China whom we're hosting this year, and it rained hard all day.
This blip shows aspects of both events: 1) My wife escorting Han back to her dormitory after an excellent brunch at a Northampton restaurant, and 2) the downpour (falling drops are visible against the black coat--view it large). Some may remember the umbrella from an earlier blip; it shows details from a large painting by the French artist Gustave Caillebotte (in Chicago). Edit: I've just discovered this link, for a mini version (ours is half-again as large).
Han is in her freshman year at Mount Holyoke; at 18, she's never been to the United States before, and she seems greatly to be enjoying the experience. She is the second international student we have hosted; the first was also Chinese: Li Li, who graduated in May--there is more on her here and here
