Where are all the surfers?

We went to the beach but there were no surfers in the sea. I was really disappointed because chasing surfers is one of my favourite games. I had a very short wallow in a rock pool but it was really cold so I didn't bother going swimming. Chilly ......... brrrrrrr?!
