Christmas tree is locked up

Our Christmas tree is locked up this year in my office this year where it is safe from the mischievous and adventurous kitten. In previous years, it was not uncommon to find our older cats climbing the tree....or gasp, ASLEEP in the branches of the tree. I know, what can I expect?? It is a tree!!! with dangling sparkly toys hanging from the branches!! They are cats. That is what they do. I don't mind when they sleep UNDER the tree though. That is totally fine and sweet. But it won't be happening this year. Maybe next year, when Willie Nelson has matured.

Due to chronic wiring problems, we bought a new tree this year. The new tree has LED light and is quite lovely. However, it is a bit smaller and can barely hold our significant ornament collection. Perhaps we will have to start culling the collection and not put up the ones we don't truly love. This year the tree looks a bit overdressed. But how do you say no to each ornament with a memory, especially the ones that were made by the girls when they were little??? I don't. I just find room for them.
