Crunch

More dam pictures today. The digging out of the dam has begun, with the dirt core about 1/8th removed, starting at the top.

But, while walking around taking rather unexciting photos of the dam repair progress, I looked out at the lake, which is starting to freeze over. There is a slight current toward the dam, so the ice that builds up near shore gets driven into the sand and rocks by the current, pushing the thin slabs over top of one another. It all looks like giant panes of broken glass (the ice is about that thick now).
