A Winter Affair
Let he who is without sin
cast the first stone
He hopes she's there.
His greatest fear
is her leaving
the safety of warm sheets
for the danger of roads
and crazy drivers' ghastly mistakes.
She says it's strange
when belted in and fog-surrounded
- unnerving.
And hurrying back
from crafty trips
in time to say
it's been a quiet day
is risky.
He speaks to no one.
Tidies the bed.
Casts a moody eye into still fog
then closes the curtain.
The clock ticks on.
