CHOCOLATE VILLAGE
As promised, a pic of some of the goodies on offer at L'Angolo Dolce (sweet corner). These houses and trees are made of chocolate and decorated with other edible sweeties. The trees are disks of very fine chocolate with nuts in between.
This place is a wonderland of chocolate gifts. There is a beautiful plate with a realistic salami and ball of cheese. All chocolate. There are chocolates filled with violet cream, coffee cream, etc. etc. There are candied chestnuts, marzipan fruit, traditional Lucchese biscuits, to say nothing of miles of cakes.
It's a family run business. They make everything themselves. They ran a pastry shop in San Francisco for a few years and so their sweet things lack a distinctive Italian flavouring which I don't know what is.
I forced myself to have a pastry I call a snail, coiled pastry studded with pine nuts and chocolate bits. I am going to feel guilty for the rest of the day but, anything for a blip pic, right?
PS: Himself is hero of the day. He took telephone instructions and switched us back to the fast server. Oh, joy!
