Where's the big freeze?

The paper this morning promised feet of snow and howling gales by lunchtime. It's a cold evening, but no snow has materialised yet... There was a very brief flurry of hail as I walked home from the bus though, pictured here mixed with ice that has been sitting for a couple of weeks now.
