Thistle Down

By Ethel

Meditation

In the glowing embers of our lives,
We turn to friendship's fleeting hours.
And cast our distances...well beyond,
The goal of tall and lofty towers.

We separate what we love best,
And take the little-bits of mirth.
To scatter on another's path,
That he too...might know added worth.

What once we treasured in our cup,
And still we ask for more.
The hankerings of our eager youth,
Slips slowly past the door.

Real value looms within our lives,
With strengths of steel to hold.
And lifts true character aloft,
On bands of filtered gold.

Visions of our days gone by,
Return to us again.
And makes our hearts rejoice once more,
When we remember WHEN.
