Good Morning, Sunshine

My morning coffee is almost always spent on the window seat looking out at the backyard. Unfortunately, my view is of lots and lots of trees, but it does allow me a glimpse of the sunrise in the distance. This morning's sunrise brought a beautiful burst of color through the clouds and rain. And then, it was gone.
How can so many colors end up as such a gray day?
